Magipics has supplied visuals for a number of scenes in the Our Living Climate full-dome show at Melbourne Planetarium. For such projection systems, the graphics are essentially created in the manner of a fish-eye camera lens. Seen here is a fast sequence of some of the scenes produced by Magipics.
Stills
1. This image is from a scene illustrating the importance of Earth’s atmosphere
2 This follows on directly from the previous image. Without its atmosphere, the Earth would be cold like the Moon.
3 This still is from a scene directly following on from the previous image. We fly away from the Moon to see the principle of the Sun’s radiation.
4 This is from a scene illustrating the effect of Earth’s orbit on the climate.
5 This image is from a scene illustrating the ancient Cyanobacteria “gassing themselves out of existence” by producing oxygen.
6 A still from the same scene showing the evolution of new forms of bacteria that were able to live in an oxygen-rich atmosphere.
7 A still from a Devonian underwater scene showing the evolution of the amphibian fish that eventually migrated up on land.
8 An image from a scene illustrating the Carboniferous generation of coal deposits.
